Interaction
In Adelaide at the start of the twentieth century, a father and son, the Braggs experimented with X-rays. These X-rays were separately investigated by Roentgen and Tesla.
Roentgen developed the use of High Frequency X-rays for human healing as the X-rays showed broken bones. This allowed doctors to properly splint any breaks, giving faster healing.
Tesla was able to show a human skull from a distance of forty feet, a huge difference in the energy of generation. Whether the Bragg family followed the European research, or the American, they used X-rays to find the structure of various materials.
The Braggs received a Noble prize for their X-ray crystallography. By showing a pattern on a photograph film of a thin film of an element, the pattern determined the atomic structure of that element.
The X-ray Crystallography has been developed so that complicated organic compounds are able to be revealed and understood. This X-ray use was famously used by Roselind Franklin to show the internal structure of single cells, showing the DNA in the cells. This led to a whole area of research with ramifications across the whole world.
The splitting of visible light into different wave lengths became the start of spectroscopy in astronomy. Being able to identify the elements of different stars showed a larger picture of the cosmos, with a lot of common ground. This changed thinking.
The study of astronomy showed different sizes of stars with different life spans and the effect of gravity that made heavier elements. From a single proton and electron of hydrogen to over ninety elements.
A scientist in Britain, J. J. Thomson held that an electron was a discrete particle that could be used. He developed a unit he called a Cathode Ray Tube, it was an electron gun in an evacuated glass tube, with an end coated with phosphorus.
This was a very exacting, precise bit of equipment that was able to show the wave patterns of electro-magnetic radiation - an Oscilliscope.
That became under Logie Biard the original television screen, first black and white, later in colour. Three colours, red, green and blue.
A possible combination of Braggs' diffraction and Newtons prism might be possible. A pyramid of glass inverted, so the base becomes a screen, with X-ray lasers aimed at the four angled faces to create an intense interaction in the multiple prism with with idea that an inter action between the high energy radiation could show a reaction with the old idea of Ether. An up market Photon gun showing a finer inter-action.
